Warming Tea Inspiration

From the fragrant aromas to the delicate flavours, or just the simple comfort of a warm mug, tea is a meditation for the senses. It also creates a quiet moment to unwind and reconnect.

Here are some warming tea recipes ideas with the perfect honey combination!


Warm Grapefruit Tea


Sweet and tart, this tea is energizing and delicious. The creamy smooth taste of Wild Flower Honey would work well in this recipe, as its delicate flavour will not overwhelm the other ingredients.

Ingredients: 2 cups ruby red grapefruit juice (squeezed from 2 grapefruits), 2 to 4 tablespoons honey, 1 cinnamon stick and 1/2 teaspoon whole allspice berries.

Directions: In a medium pot, combine juice, cinnamon, allspice, and ½ cup water. Bring to a boil over high heat; strain and discard solids. Serve with a grapefruit segment or strip of zest and honey.


Soothing Ginger Tea


Ginger is the root of this infusion, which will warm bellies while filling the home with fragrance. Boost your drink with the delicious, full-bodied taste of MGO30+ Manuka Honey.  

Ingredients: 4 cups of water, 2 ounces of thinly sliced ginger, 5 whole cloves, and the juice of 1 lemon in a medium saucepan.

Directions: Bring all ingredients to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 2 to 3 minutes. Strain, and serve with honey or sugar.


Turmeric Tea


Turmeric is incredibly anti-inflammatory and incredibly delicious. The rich taste of Manuka Honey Blend would work perfectly in this tea.

Ingredients: 3 1/2 cups water, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 3 tablespoons honey, Peel (without pith) of 1 lemon, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, Pinch of cayenne.

Directions: Bring the ingredients (apart from the honey) to a boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat; steep, covered, until the liquid cools to room temperature, then add the honey. Strain and reheat to serve. The brews can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.  

Chai Tea with Soy Milk

Essentially a blend of tea, ground spices, honey, and milk, Chai  can be enjoyed hot or cold. This version, which replaces cow's milk with soy milk, is served hot. Gorgeous made with the rich caramel sweetness of New Zealand Rewarewa Honey

Ingredients: 3 cups water, 10 whole green cardamom pods, lightly crushed, 5 whole cloves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and quartered, 1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and scraped, 1/3 cup honey, 4 black tea bags, such as English Breakfast, 1 1/2 cups soy milk.

Directions: Place the water in a small saucepan, and add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla bean and scrapings. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low, and simmer until mixture is aromatic, about 15 minutes. Whisk in honey, and drop tea bags in pan; turn off heat, and let steep 3 minutes. Strain tea through a fine strainer, or a coffee filter into a warmed serving pot. Heat soy milk in same saucepan over medium-high heat, about 3 minutes; do not let it come to a boil or it will separate. Pour into serving pot with the tea, and stir well to combine. Serve immediately.
